ABOUT THE RELEASE
Teeko is a San Francisco based producer & DJ and half of the the future funk duo Starship Connection. On this collaboration he’s joined by native Bay Area funkster Diamond Ortiz (MoFunk) for a fine serving of synthesized boogie/funk fresh out of California. Teeko performs on a Roland JX3P, Mini-Moog Voyager, & Talkbox. Diamond Ortiz performs vocals with a Microkorg XL with a Rocktron Banshee Talkbox. Real Ones is a lively vocoder slapper written & performed by Teeko with DJ friendly instrumental on the B side.

Marinero
MARINERO – San Francisco/Guadalajara.
Band
Marinero is a solo project dreamt up by Bay Area chicanx songwriter/composer Jess Sylvester in 2014. He is a man of many projects and has taken part in groups that delve into a variety of genres ranging from punk/hardcore (Violent Change, Tiger Uppercut, Crisis Man) to sampledelia (Francisco y Madero).
Francisco Y Madero, was the precursor to Marinero and the beginning of his cholo-fi signature style of taking samples of 60s latin music and adding spacey pop flavors. Jess takes Marinero’s sound elsewhere in Trópico de Cáncer which is rooted in bossa nova and Tropicália and gathers influence from groups like chicano rock bands like Los Freddy’s, Los Angeles Negros, and Malo.
After two EP’s, Marinero is set to release the album in the spring of 2019. His upcoming effort, Trópico de Cáncer— will be released digitally, as well as on vinyl & cassette.
Diamond Ortiz turns back the clock with “Virgo Baby”
“Virgo Baby” is the 1st offering from LA funkster, Diamond Ortiz’s forthcoming LP, Certified. Diamond Ortiz returns with his signature blend of retro & future funk which emanates from his deep musical roots ranging from 50’s era R&B to lover’s rock reggae to unapologetic g-funk. “Virgo Baby” is the perfect introduction to Certified and it lays a sublime foundation for the modern LA funk party vibe. Written & performed by Jeremy Diamond Ortiz, “Virgo Baby” is a sure shot dance floor party jam.
Certified drops this summer on Needle to the Groove on limited LP / CD / CS + digital.
